Euryaspis

Euryaspis is a genus of extinct trilobites belonging to the order Asaphida. Fossils of Euryaspis have been found in Lower Ordovician strata. The genus is characterized by a broad, flattened cephalon (head shield) and pygidium (tail shield) that are nearly equal in size. The genal spines, which are extensions from the posterior corners of the cephalon, are typically short or absent. The thorax consists of a variable number of segments, depending on the species. Overall, Euryaspis possesses a relatively smooth exoskeleton compared to some other trilobites, lacking elaborate ornamentation.
