Erik Gustafsson (ice hockey, born 1988)
Erik Gustafsson (born March 15, 1988) is a Swedish professional ice hockey defenceman currently playing for the New York Rangers in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Gustafsson was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round, 93rd overall, of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Prior to being drafted, he played in Sweden for Rögle BK. He made his NHL debut with the Blues during the 2010–11 season.
Throughout his NHL career, Gustafsson has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, Montreal Canadiens, Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Capitals, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He is known for his offensive capabilities from the blue line, particularly his skating and passing abilities. He has established himself as a reliable power-play quarterback.
Gustafsson has also represented Sweden internationally, including at the IIHF World Championship.
