Ducktails (musical project)

Ducktails is an American indie pop project led by Matt Mondanile, primarily known for his dreamy, lo-fi sound and influences from jangle-pop, psychedelic pop, and chillwave. Active primarily from the late 2000s to the late 2010s, Ducktails released several studio albums and EPs, initially through labels like Captured Tracks and later through Domino Recording Company.

Mondanile began Ducktails as a solo project, crafting home recordings characterized by layered guitars, synthesizers, and hazy vocals. Over time, Ducktails evolved into a more collaborative effort, featuring contributions from various musicians.

The project's discography includes albums such as Ducktails (2009), Landscapes (2009), III Arcade Dynamics (2011), The Flower Lane (2013), and St. Catherine (2015). These albums showcase a progression in sound, ranging from more experimental and atmospheric beginnings to more polished and accessible indie pop.

Ducktails gained significant recognition within the indie music scene, touring extensively and garnering critical attention for its distinct blend of sonic textures and melodic songwriting. The project was ultimately put on hold following allegations against Mondanile in 2017.
