Billy Bates (footballer)
Billy Bates (born 24 November 1894, date of death unknown) was an English professional footballer who played as a forward.
Bates began his career with non-league sides Denaby United and Frickley Colliery. He joined Football League Second Division side Barnsley in 1920, making 11 appearances and scoring 1 goal. In 1921, he moved to Lincoln City, also of the Second Division, where he made a single appearance. His subsequent career is not well documented, but it is believed he returned to non-league football. Further details of his playing career are scarce.
