Dresser (theatre)
In theatrical production, a dresser is a member of the wardrobe department responsible for assisting actors with their costumes. The dresser's duties typically include helping actors change quickly between costumes during performances (often backstage or in dressing rooms), maintaining the costumes throughout the run of the show (including minor repairs and cleaning), and ensuring that all costumes are correctly laid out and prepared for each performance. Dressers may also assist with quick changes that involve wigs, makeup, and accessories. The role of a dresser is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of costume-heavy productions. A head dresser typically oversees a team of dressers and coordinates the wardrobe department's activities during performances.
