Don Ross (guitarist)

Don Ross (born November 19, 1960, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a Canadian fingerstyle guitarist. He is known for his complex and percussive playing style, incorporating elements of folk, jazz, blues, and classical music.

Ross started playing guitar at the age of eight. He developed a unique style early on, using altered tunings, tapping, harmonics, and a variety of percussive techniques on the guitar body. He graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.

Ross has released numerous albums, starting with "Bearing Straight" in 1989. His albums often feature original compositions alongside arrangements of popular songs. He has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.

Ross is widely recognized as a leading figure in the fingerstyle guitar community. He has received several awards and accolades, including winning the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship in 1988, making him the only Canadian to ever win that competition. He is also known for his teaching and workshops, sharing his knowledge and techniques with aspiring guitarists. His compositions are studied and performed by guitarists around the world.
