Device (metal band)
Device was an American industrial metal band formed in 2013 by David Draiman, best known as the vocalist for the band Disturbed. The band was conceived during Disturbed's hiatus. Draiman collaborated with Geno Lenardo, formerly of Filter, as the primary songwriter and multi-instrumentalist for the project.
Device released one self-titled studio album in 2013 through Warner Bros. Records. The album featured guest appearances from several prominent musicians in the hard rock and metal scene, including Serj Tankian (System of a Down), Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine), Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath), and Lzzy Hale (Halestorm).
The band's sound incorporated elements of industrial rock, electronic music, and heavy metal, distinguishing it from Disturbed's more traditional hard rock style. Key sonic characteristics included synthesized instrumentation, electronic drum beats, and Draiman's signature vocal style adapted for the industrial context.
Device toured in support of their album, with a lineup that included Draiman on vocals, Geno Lenardo on guitar and programming, Virus (Dope) on guitar, and Will Hunt (Evanescence, Black Label Society) on drums.
Following the release of the album and subsequent touring, Device went on hiatus, coinciding with Disturbed's return from their own extended break. As of the present time, no further Device projects or releases have been announced. The project is considered inactive.
