David Thompson (footballer, born 1962)

David Thompson (born 16 June 1962) is an English former professional footballer. He played as a midfielder.

Thompson began his career with Coventry City, making his debut in 1980. He spent several years at Highfield Road, becoming a regular member of the first team.

In 1986, Thompson moved to Charlton Athletic. He continued to play regularly, contributing to the team's efforts in the First Division (now the Premier League).

After a spell with Charlton, Thompson joined Watford. He later played for Bournemouth and Northampton Town, before retiring from professional football.

Following his playing career, Thompson has held coaching positions at various levels of the game. His career is characterised by his consistent performances and contributions as a midfield player.
