Currant Creek Dam (Utah)

Currant Creek Dam is a dam located in Wasatch County, Utah, approximately 16 miles southeast of Strawberry Reservoir. The dam impounds Currant Creek, creating Currant Creek Reservoir. It is owned and operated by the Central Utah Water Conservancy District (CUWCD).

The dam is an earthfill structure with a height of 272 feet and a crest length of 1,705 feet. Construction of the dam began in 1981 and was completed in 1983. Its primary purpose is to provide irrigation water, municipal water, and recreation. The Currant Creek Reservoir has a capacity of approximately 15,700 acre-feet.

The water stored in Currant Creek Reservoir is a part of the Bonneville Unit of the Central Utah Project (CUP), a large-scale water diversion and management project designed to divert water from the Uinta Mountains to the more arid areas of central Utah. Water released from the reservoir flows into the Strawberry River and eventually contributes to the water supply for the Wasatch Front.

Recreational activities at Currant Creek Reservoir include fishing, boating, and camping. The reservoir is known for its trout fishing.
