Crostwitz
Crostwitz (Sorbian: Chrósticy) is a municipality in the district of Bautzen, in Saxony, Germany. It is situated in Upper Lusatia and is known as a center of Sorbian culture and language. The municipality is part of the Catholic Sorbian settlement area.
The name Crostwitz is of Sorbian origin.
The municipality includes the following villages: Crostwitz (Chrósticy), Caseritz (Kozarcy), Horka (Hórki), Kopschin (Kopšin), Nucknitz (Nuknica), Prautitz (Prawoćicy), and Rödlen (Radło).
The area is characterized by rolling hills and agricultural land. The local economy is largely based on agriculture, small businesses, and tourism, particularly related to Sorbian culture and heritage.
Crostwitz has a strong tradition of preserving and promoting the Sorbian language and culture. The local school teaches in both German and Sorbian. The municipality hosts various cultural events throughout the year, including traditional festivals and celebrations.
