Cowdenbeath (Scottish Parliament constituency)
Cowdenbeath is a constituency of the Scottish Parliament (Holyrood). It elects one Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) by the first past the post method of election. It is one of nine constituencies within the Mid Scotland and Fife electoral region.
The constituency was created in 2011 from parts of the former constituencies of Central Fife and Dunfermline West. It covers an area in western Fife, including the towns of Cowdenbeath, Kelty, and Crossgates.
Since its creation, the Cowdenbeath constituency has been represented by the Scottish Labour Party. The boundaries have remained unchanged in subsequent boundary reviews.
The Mid Scotland and Fife region also elects seven additional members to produce a form of proportional representation for the region as a whole.
