Cord lock

A cord lock, also known as a toggle, spring stop, cord stopper, or drawstring fastener, is a type of fastener used to secure and adjust the length of cords, drawstrings, and elastic. They are commonly found on clothing, backpacks, tents, luggage, and various other applications where a cord needs to be tightened or loosened and held in place.

The basic mechanism of a cord lock typically consists of a barrel-shaped housing, a spring, and a plunger with a hole or channel through it. The cord is threaded through the holes in the housing and the plunger. When the plunger is depressed, it compresses the spring and releases the tension on the cord, allowing it to be freely adjusted. Releasing the plunger allows the spring to push the plunger back into its original position, clamping the cord against the housing and preventing it from sliding.

Cord locks come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and materials, including plastic, metal, and even wood. Different designs may offer varying levels of cord holding strength and ease of use. Some cord locks may feature dual holes for accommodating two cords simultaneously, while others may have textured surfaces for improved grip.
