Chuck Porter (politician)
Chuck Porter (born c. 1960) is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Nova Scotia, representing the riding of Hants West. First elected in the 2006 provincial election, he was re-elected in 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021.
Porter was originally elected as a Progressive Conservative. In 2010, he crossed the floor to join the Liberal Party.
During his time in the Nova Scotia legislature, Porter served in various cabinet portfolios. Notably, he held the position of Minister of Health and Wellness under the Liberal government of Stephen McNeil and Iain Rankin. He also served as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Porter announced his retirement from provincial politics in 2023. His resignation triggered a by-election in Hants West, which was held in November 2023.
