Christian Party (UK)

The Christian Party was a minor political party in the United Kingdom. Founded in 2004 by Reverend George Hargreaves, it advocated for policies based on Christian principles and values. The party aimed to uphold traditional family values, oppose abortion and euthanasia, and promote religious freedom.

The Christian Party contested elections at various levels, including local, national (UK parliamentary), and European parliamentary elections. However, it never gained significant electoral success and did not secure any seats in the UK Parliament or the European Parliament. Its support base was generally small and concentrated among some sections of the Christian community.

The party's manifesto typically included policies on areas such as education, healthcare, and social welfare, all viewed through a Christian lens. It often called for a greater role for religion in public life and argued for the protection of Christian heritage and values.

In 2019, the Christian Party was deregistered by the Electoral Commission. This was due to the party's failure to meet the registration requirements and maintain the necessary level of activity. The party subsequently ceased to exist as a registered political entity.
