Chris Donahue (general)

Chris Donahue is a retired United States Army general. He is most notable for being the last U.S. soldier to leave Afghanistan on August 30, 2021, marking the official end of the U.S. military presence in the country after twenty years of war. At the time, he was the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division. His departure was widely publicized through a photograph taken by the Department of Defense showing him boarding a C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.
