Cheptegei
Joshua Cheptegei (born September 12, 1996) is a Ugandan long-distance runner and world record holder in the 5,000 metres, 10,000 metres, and 5km road race. He is also a World Champion in the 10,000 metres (2019, 2022, 2023) and a World Cross Country Champion (2019).
Cheptegei rose to prominence after winning the 10,000 metres gold medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. He has since established himself as one of the most dominant long-distance runners in the world, setting numerous world records and winning major championships. He represented Uganda at the 2016 and 2020 Summer Olympics, winning gold in the 5000m and silver in the 10,000m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Cheptegei is known for his exceptional endurance, tactical prowess, and finishing speed. He is a significant figure in Ugandan athletics and an inspiration to aspiring runners in the country and around the world.
