Charles Wordsworth (cricketer)

Charles Wordsworth (born 18 June 1849, died 9 February 1912) was an English cricketer. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler, he played first-class cricket for Oxford University between 1870 and 1872.

Wordsworth was the son of Christopher Wordsworth, Bishop of Lincoln, and nephew of the poet William Wordsworth. He was educated at Winchester College and Christ Church, Oxford.

In his first-class career, Wordsworth played 11 matches, scoring 303 runs at an average of 14.42, with a highest score of 44. He took one wicket, conceding 23 runs. He earned his Blue playing for Oxford University.

After graduating from Oxford, Wordsworth entered the Church of England. He served as vicar of Leadenham, Lincolnshire, from 1877 until his death. He was also a prominent local figure in Lincolnshire.
