Carshalton (UK Parliament constituency)

Carshalton was a former constituency in the United Kingdom. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) to the House of Commons. It was located in the London Borough of Sutton.

The constituency was created in 1918, replacing the Epsom constituency. It was abolished in 1945, when it was replaced by the Sutton and Cheam constituency.

The constituency covered the area of Carshalton, and other surrounding areas that now comprise the Sutton South and Carshalton Central wards of the London Borough of Sutton.

Notable former MPs for Carshalton included Sir Henry Cosmo Orme Bonsor, 1st Baronet, who served as the MP for the constituency from 1918 to 1923, and William Maxwell Aitken, 1st Baron Beaverbrook, who served from 1910 to 1916 representing the Unionist party, though the constituency was still part of the Epsom jurisdiction at the time.

The political affiliation of the elected MP varied over the constituency's lifespan, but often leaned towards the Conservative or Unionist parties. Due to its relatively short existence, it played a comparatively limited role in the broader political history of the United Kingdom.
