Fool's Gold (2008 film)
Fool's Gold is a 2008 American romantic action-adventure comedy film directed by Andy Tennant, starring Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson. The film revolves around a divorced couple who reignite their adventurous spirit and romantic feelings while searching for a legendary treasure lost at sea.
The plot follows Benjamin "Finn" Finnegan (McConaughey), an amiable treasure hunter obsessed with finding the Queen's Dowry, a collection of Spanish artifacts lost in a 1715 shipwreck. His obsession has cost him his marriage to Tess (Hudson) and put him deep in debt to local gangster Bigg Bunny (Kevin Hart). When Finn discovers a crucial clue, pointing to the treasure's location, he must race against Bigg Bunny and his former mentor Moe Fitch (Ray Winstone), who are also after the gold.
Tess, now working on a yacht owned by Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland), becomes reluctantly involved in Finn's treasure hunt. As they navigate treacherous waters, outwit rivals, and face dangerous situations, Finn and Tess are forced to confront their unresolved feelings and rediscover their love for one another. The film combines elements of comedy, action, and romance, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Bahamas. It received mixed reviews from critics.
