Carlos Gutiérrez (diplomat)

Carlos Gutiérrez is a Cuban-American diplomat and former United States Secretary of Commerce. He served under President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2009.

Born in Havana, Cuba, Gutiérrez emigrated to the United States with his family in 1960. He began his career with the Kellogg Company in 1975, rising through the ranks to become President and CEO in 1999.

As Secretary of Commerce, Gutiérrez was responsible for promoting U.S. businesses at home and abroad. His focus included working to open new markets for American goods and services, and advancing U.S. competitiveness. He also played a key role in the Bush administration's efforts to improve relations with Latin America.
