Capys (son of Assaracus)

Capys, in Greek mythology, was a king of Dardania and son of Assaracus and Hieromneme (daughter of Simois). He was the father of Anchises, making him the grandfather of Aeneas, the legendary founder of Rome. Thus, Capys is a significant figure in Roman mythology and genealogy. His lineage connects directly to the royal house of Troy and ultimately, through Aeneas, to the Roman emperors who claimed descent from him.
