Bruno Landi (tenor)

Bruno Landi (1900 – 1968) was an Italian operatic tenor, primarily associated with the lyric-spinto repertoire.

Landi was born in Milan, Italy. He made his professional debut in Lecce, Italy, in 1926 as Enzo in Ponchielli's La Gioconda. He quickly gained recognition in Italy and other European opera houses. His American debut occurred in 1933 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, singing the role of Don Alvaro in Verdi's La Forza del Destino. He remained with the Metropolitan Opera until 1942, performing in numerous roles, including Cavaradossi in Tosca, Radames in Aida, Manrico in Il Trovatore, and Don José in Carmen.

Landi was known for his robust voice, dramatic interpretation, and passionate delivery. While his recordings are relatively scarce, they provide evidence of his powerful vocal presence and stage charisma. After his retirement from the stage, he dedicated himself to teaching singing.
