Bobby Brown (footballer, born 1940)
Bobby Brown (born 20 February 1940) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper.
Brown began his career with Heart of Midlothian, making his debut in 1958. He was a key member of the Hearts team that won the Scottish League Cup in 1958-59 and 1962-63. He also played in the Hearts team that won the Scottish league championship in 1959-60.
In 1963, Brown signed for Northampton Town in England. He spent two seasons with Northampton before returning to Scotland to play for Aberdeen in 1965.
Brown spent the majority of his career at Aberdeen, playing for the club for over ten years. During his time at Pittodrie, he established himself as a club legend, renowned for his shot-stopping ability and commanding presence. He was a key member of the Aberdeen team that won the Scottish Cup in 1969-70. He also captained the side.
Brown left Aberdeen in 1975 and subsequently played for Dundee before retiring from professional football.
After his playing career ended, Brown moved into coaching, holding positions at several clubs including Aberdeen and Dundee. He is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in Scottish football history.
