Bill Pierce (baseball)
William "Bill" Pierce (born December 21, 1948) is a former professional baseball player. He was a pitcher in Major League Baseball (MLB) for parts of three seasons, playing for the Detroit Tigers (1971-1972) and the Philadelphia Phillies (1973).
Pierce was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 1st round (12th overall) of the 1967 MLB June Amateur Draft from George Wythe High School in Richmond, Virginia.
He made his MLB debut on September 11, 1971, for the Tigers. Over his career, he pitched primarily in relief roles. His career MLB statistics include a 1-3 record, with a 5.82 ERA in 34 appearances. He recorded one save.
After his playing career ended, Pierce remained involved in baseball, often working with youth leagues and providing pitching instruction.
