Bababe (department)

Bababe is a department within the Gambella Region of Ethiopia. It is located in the eastern part of the region and is bordered by the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) to the east, Akobo to the west, and the Oromia Region to the north.

The administrative center of Bababe is the town of Abobo. The population is primarily composed of Anuak people. Agriculture is the primary economic activity in the department, with staple crops including maize, sorghum, and teff. Livestock raising is also a significant component of the local economy.

Access to infrastructure such as roads, healthcare facilities, and schools is limited in many parts of Bababe.
