Aviafiber
Aviafiber was a Swiss company specializing in the design and manufacture of high-performance composite aircraft, primarily gliders. Founded in the late 1970s, Aviafiber gained a reputation for producing innovative and competitive sailplanes utilizing advanced materials like fiberglass and carbon fiber.
The company's most well-known product was the ASW 22, a high-performance open-class glider designed by Gerhard Waibel. The ASW 22 achieved significant success in gliding competitions worldwide and contributed to Aviafiber's recognition as a leading manufacturer.
Aviafiber ceased production in the early 2000s. The company's legacy remains in the numerous ASW 22 gliders and other Aviafiber aircraft still actively flown today, as well as in the advancements they pioneered in composite aircraft construction. The designs and technologies developed by Aviafiber have influenced subsequent generations of glider manufacturers.
