Akuyuukai
Akuyuukai (悪友会) refers to a group or association of "bad friends" or "unwholesome companions." The term describes a social circle characterized by negative influences, questionable morals, and activities that might be considered detrimental to one's well-being or reputation.
The word is comprised of three kanji:
- 悪 (Aku): Meaning "bad," "evil," or "wrong."
- 友 (Yuu): Meaning "friend" or "companion."
- 会 (Kai): Meaning "association," "meeting," or "society."
Therefore, Akuyuukai literally translates to "bad friend association." It is often used to negatively connote a group of people who encourage or engage in undesirable behaviors, such as excessive drinking, gambling, petty crime, or generally irresponsible actions. The implication is that association with an Akuyuukai can lead individuals down a negative path. The severity of the "bad" behavior can vary, ranging from relatively harmless mischief to more serious misconduct. The term is typically used in a disapproving or cautionary manner.
