Abdul Matin Chowdhury (scholar)

Abdul Matin Chowdhury (born 1939, died 2012) was a Bangladeshi academic, economist, and intellectual. He was a prominent figure in the fields of development economics, agricultural economics, and rural development in Bangladesh.

Chowdhury obtained his PhD in economics from Vanderbilt University in the United States. He subsequently returned to Bangladesh and dedicated his career to teaching, research, and policy advocacy. He held professorships at various universities, including the University of Dhaka and the Bangladesh Agricultural University.

His research focused on issues such as poverty alleviation, food security, agricultural productivity, and the impact of globalization on the rural economy of Bangladesh. He published extensively in both national and international journals and contributed significantly to the understanding of these issues within the Bangladeshi context.
