214th Division (Imperial Japanese Army)

The 214th Division was an infantry division of the Imperial Japanese Army. It was formed on July 10, 1945, in Guangdong Province as part of the 15th Area Army.

Its formation was part of a last-ditch effort by the Japanese military to bolster defenses against the expected Allied invasion of the Japanese mainland, focusing on reinforcing coastal regions and key strategic points within occupied territories. As such, it was a late-war division, primarily composed of under-trained and under-equipped conscripts and reservists.

The 214th Division's intended operational area was within Guangdong. However, before it could be fully deployed or significantly engaged in combat, Japan surrendered in August 1945. Consequently, the division did not see any major action and was demobilized following the end of World War II. Its primary role was defense and garrison duty rather than offensive operations. Details regarding its specific organization, command structure, and subordinate units remain relatively scarce in available historical documentation.
