2022–23 Liga 2 (Indonesia)
The 2022–23 Liga 2 was the seventh season of Liga 2, the second-tier professional football league in Indonesia, since its establishment in 2017. The league was managed by PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB). The season was initially scheduled to start on 27 August 2022 and end in March 2023. However, the season was officially abandoned by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) on 12 January 2023, due to a combination of factors including the Kanjuruhan stadium disaster, financial concerns for clubs, and infrastructure limitations. Consequently, no champion was awarded for the 2022–23 season and no teams were promoted to Liga 1.
Prior to the cancellation, the league format involved 28 teams divided into three groups. Teams would compete in a double round-robin format within their respective groups. The top teams from each group were intended to advance to the next round, with the ultimate goal of promotion to Liga 1.
The abandonment of the season had significant implications for Indonesian football, affecting the participating clubs, players, and fans. The decision highlighted the challenges facing the league in terms of financial sustainability and organizational capacity.
