iPod Touch (7th generation)
The iPod Touch (7th generation), released by Apple Inc. in May 2019, is the final iteration of the iPod Touch line. It is a portable media player, personal digital assistant, and mobile gaming device.
The 7th generation iPod Touch features the Apple A10 Fusion chip, providing a significant performance boost compared to its predecessor, the 6th generation iPod Touch, which used the A8 chip. This performance enhancement allows for better support of augmented reality (AR) applications and more demanding mobile games, including Apple Arcade.
Externally, the design of the 7th generation iPod Touch is largely identical to the 6th generation model, retaining the same 4-inch Retina display, physical home button (without Touch ID), and slim aluminum chassis. It is available in multiple colors, including space gray, white, gold, blue, pink, and (PRODUCT)RED.
The device includes a headphone jack, a feature omitted from many contemporary Apple devices at the time of its release. It has an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera capable of recording 1080p video, and a 1.2-megapixel front-facing FaceTime HD camera.
Storage options for the 7th generation iPod Touch include 32GB, 128GB, and 256GB. It runs on iOS, providing access to the App Store and a range of Apple services, including Apple Music.
The 7th generation iPod Touch filled a niche in the market as an affordable entry point into the iOS ecosystem and a dedicated device for media consumption and gaming, particularly for those who did not require or want a full-fledged iPhone. Apple discontinued the iPod Touch line in May 2022.
