Wyld (crater)

Wyld is a small lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the southeast of the prominent crater Aitken, and to the northwest of the somewhat larger crater Vertregt.

This is a relatively unremarkable, bowl-shaped crater with a simple, slightly eroded rim. The interior is relatively featureless, with no central peak. The inner walls slope down gently to the floor. Due to its location on the far side, Wyld is not directly visible from Earth.

The crater is named after Sir Henry Wyld, an English philologist and phonetician. It was officially named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
