Woody Woodpecker (2017 film)
Woody Woodpecker is a 2017 American live-action/computer-animated comedy film directed by Alex Zamm, based on the cartoon character of the same name created by Walter Lantz and Ben Hardaway. The film stars Timothy Omundson, Eric Bauza (as the voice of Woody Woodpecker), Graham Verchere, Jordana Largy, and Thaila Ayala.
The film revolves around Woody Woodpecker engaging in a turf war with a lawyer named Lance Walters who intends to build a house in Woody's forest territory. The plot follows Woody's various attempts to sabotage Lance's construction efforts, resulting in slapstick humor and chaotic situations. Subplots include Lance's family struggles and Woody's interactions with other forest creatures.
Released direct-to-video and theatrically in select international markets, the film received generally negative reviews, with criticism focused on its script, humor, and CGI animation quality. Despite this, it performed relatively well in some international markets. A sequel, Woody Woodpecker Goes to Camp, was released in 2024.
