Women's Party (Israel)

The Women's Party (Hebrew: מפלגת הנשים, Mifleget HaNashim) was a short-lived political party in Israel that contested the 1999 Knesset elections. The party was founded with the goal of increasing representation of women in Israeli politics and addressing issues specifically affecting women.

The party's platform focused primarily on promoting gender equality in various sectors of Israeli society, including employment, education, and political representation. It advocated for legislation to combat discrimination against women and to ensure equal opportunities. Specific policy proposals included increased support for childcare services, measures to combat domestic violence, and reforms to the legal system to better address issues of family law and divorce.

Despite generating some media attention and attracting a degree of support, the Women's Party failed to cross the electoral threshold in the 1999 elections. As a result, it did not secure any seats in the Knesset. Following the election, the party dissolved and did not participate in subsequent elections.

The Women's Party, while ultimately unsuccessful in achieving parliamentary representation, is considered part of a broader historical trend of attempts to establish women's political parties in Israel to advocate for women's rights and interests.
