John Brodie (footballer, born 1947)
John "JB" Brodie (born April 25, 1947) is a former professional American football player who played as a punter in the National Football League (NFL).
Career:
Brodie played college football at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 14th round (340th overall) of the 1969 NFL Draft. He played for the 49ers from 1969 to 1970. Following his time with the 49ers, he played for the Washington Redskins in 1971.
Statistics:
During his NFL career, Brodie played in 29 games. He punted 138 times for 5,678 yards, averaging 41.2 yards per punt. His longest punt was 65 yards.
Personal Life:
John Brodie is not to be confused with the more famous John Brodie, who was a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers from 1957 to 1973. They share the same name, leading to occasional confusion.
