William Mann (settler)

William Mann was an early English settler in colonial America, primarily associated with the Plymouth Colony and later, the town of Scituate. Records indicate he arrived in Plymouth around 1623, possibly on the ship "Anne." He was granted land in the land division of that year.

Mann was a participant in the defense of the early settlements against Native American threats. He served in the militia and was likely involved in expeditions against potential aggressors.

Later in his life, William Mann moved to Scituate, Massachusetts. He became a freeman in 1636, a status granting him civic rights such as voting and land ownership. He participated in town affairs and held various minor positions within the local government. His descendants became numerous in the area, contributing to the growth and development of Scituate and surrounding towns. His will, proved in 1650, provides valuable insight into his personal property and family relationships.
