ValorUS
ValorUS, formerly the National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma & Mental Health, is a national non-profit organization in the United States that focuses on the intersection of domestic violence, trauma, and mental health. Its mission is to improve systems' and community responses to survivors and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma.
ValorUS works to achieve its mission through several avenues, including:
-
Training and Technical Assistance: Providing training and technical assistance to professionals across various sectors, such as healthcare, social services, and the legal system, to enhance their understanding of trauma-informed practices and effective interventions.
-

-
Research and Evaluation: Conducting research and evaluation projects to better understand the impact of trauma on individuals and communities, and to identify evidence-based practices for prevention and intervention.
-
Resource Development: Creating and disseminating resources, such as toolkits, guides, and webinars, to educate professionals and the public about domestic violence, trauma, and mental health.
ValorUS emphasizes a survivor-centered approach, recognizing the importance of respecting the autonomy and agency of survivors and tailoring services to their individual needs. The organization also promotes culturally responsive practices, acknowledging the diverse experiences and needs of survivors from different backgrounds.
