Vágseiði
Vágseiði is a village located on the island of Suðuroy in the Faroe Islands. It is situated on the isthmus (eiði) connecting the two parts of the island, hence the name "Vágseiði" meaning "Vágur isthmus" or "isthmus of Vágur."
Geographically, Vágseiði is strategically positioned, offering relatively easy access to both the east and west coasts of Suðuroy. It is located near the larger village of Vágur, and often considered part of the greater Vágur area.
Economically, Vágseiði benefits from its proximity to Vágur, sharing its resources and employment opportunities. Fishing and related industries are significant in the local economy.
Historically, Vágseiði has played a role in connecting the northern and southern parts of Suðuroy. The isthmus itself has been important for transportation and communication throughout the island's history. While not a major independent settlement, its geographical location has consistently made it a relevant part of the island's infrastructure.
