USS Talbot (DD-114)
The USS Talbot (DD-114) was a Wickes-class destroyer in the United States Navy during World War I and World War II. Named for Silas Talbot, a naval officer during the American Revolutionary War, she was commissioned in 1918.
Following her commissioning, the Talbot served primarily in the Atlantic, engaging in convoy escort duties during World War I. Between the wars, she participated in various fleet exercises and training operations.
With the outbreak of World War II, the Talbot resumed convoy escort duties, primarily in the Atlantic. She also performed patrol duties along the Eastern Seaboard. Notably, she assisted in the search for survivors of torpedoed vessels and helped protect vital shipping lanes.
Decommissioned in 1945 following the end of World War II, the USS Talbot (DD-114) was subsequently scrapped. Her service record reflects the vital role of destroyers in protecting Allied shipping during both World Wars.
