USS Cook (APD-130)

The USS Cook (APD-130) was a high-speed transport ship in the United States Navy during World War II and the Cold War. She was a member of the Charles Lawrence-class of high-speed transports. Originally laid down as the destroyer escort Tisdale (DE-33), she was converted to an APD prior to launch.

Cook was commissioned in 1944 and saw action in the Pacific Theater during World War II, participating in several amphibious landings. Following the war, she continued to serve with the Navy, participating in various training exercises and deployments. She was decommissioned in 1969.

APD-130 earned battle stars for her service during World War II. She was named after Lieutenant Commander Wilfred John Cook, who was killed in action during the Battle of Guadalcanal.
