Te Whaiti
Te Whaiti is a small, predominantly Māori settlement located in the eastern Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand's North Island. It sits within the rohe (territory) of the Ngāti Whare iwi (tribe).
The area is historically significant to Ngāti Whare and is known for its strong cultural identity and connection to the surrounding native bush. Forestry and agriculture play important roles in the local economy. The remote location has contributed to the preservation of traditional Māori practices and language in the community.
Te Whaiti is accessible via State Highway 38, which connects it to other settlements in the region, including Murupara and Waikaremoana. The population is relatively small, and the community maintains close ties through marae (communal meeting place) and other cultural activities.
