Status Quo (band)
Status Quo are an English rock band that formed in London in 1962. Initially known as The Spectres, they changed their name to Status Quo in 1969. They are best known for their boogie rock style, characterized by repetitive, driving rhythms, three-chord progressions, and twin guitar harmonies.
The band's core lineup for many years consisted of Francis Rossi (vocals, guitar), Rick Parfitt (vocals, guitar), Alan Lancaster (bass, vocals), and John Coghlan (drums). This lineup, often referred to as the "Frantic Four," achieved significant commercial success in the 1970s.
Status Quo have released over 30 studio albums, with numerous chart-topping singles and albums in the UK and Europe. Some of their most recognizable songs include "Rockin' All Over the World," "Whatever You Want," "Down Down," and "In the Army Now."
Despite numerous lineup changes over the years, Francis Rossi remained a constant member. Rick Parfitt passed away in 2016. The band continued to tour and record, solidifying their status as a long-lasting and influential force in British rock music. They are known for their energetic live performances and enduring popularity. Their contributions to rock music have been recognized with numerous awards and accolades.
