Spaubeek
Spaubeek is a village in the municipality of Beek, located in the province of Limburg, in the Netherlands. It is situated approximately 8 kilometers northwest of Sittard.
Historically, Spaubeek was an independent municipality until January 1, 1982, when it was merged into the municipality of Beek. The village has a rich history, with evidence of settlement dating back to Roman times. Notable features of Spaubeek include the Saint Laurentius Church and the remnants of Spaubeek Castle, although little of the original structure remains.
The local dialect spoken in Spaubeek is Limburgish, specifically a variety within the Central Limburgish dialect group. The economy of Spaubeek is primarily agricultural, though residents also commute to nearby towns and cities for work.
