Schillerplatz (Dresden)

Schillerplatz is a prominent square located in the Blasewitz district of Dresden, Germany, at the eastern end of the Blue Wonder bridge (Blaues Wunder, officially the Loschwitzer Brücke). It serves as a transportation hub and a popular meeting place.

The square is named after the German poet and playwright Friedrich Schiller. A bronze bust of Schiller, created by Johannes Schilling (who also created the Quadriga on the Semperoper), is located in the center of the square.

Schillerplatz is characterized by its mix of historical buildings, shops, restaurants, and cafes. It offers views of the Elbe River and the surrounding hillsides. Several tram and bus lines converge at Schillerplatz, making it a vital connection point for public transport in Dresden. The square is also often the site of local markets and events.
