Ron Walters (politician)

Ron Walters (July 23, 1938 – September 10, 2010) was an American scholar, author, and political strategist specializing in African American politics.

Walters earned a B.A. from Fisk University in 1963 and a Ph.D. in Political Science from American University in 1971. He taught at several universities, including Howard University, Syracuse University, and the University of Maryland, College Park, where he directed the African American Leadership Institute.

Walters was a significant figure in the development of Black political thought and action. He served as an advisor to prominent political figures, including Jesse Jackson's presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988, and was a consultant to the Congressional Black Caucus.

His research and writing focused on a range of issues related to race, public policy, and political empowerment. He authored numerous books and articles, including "Black Presidential Politics in America," "Pan Africanism in the Twenty-First Century," and "White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide." His work frequently explored the complex dynamics of race in American politics and advocated for strategies to advance the interests of the African American community.

Walters was a frequent commentator on national and international affairs, offering his insights on television and in print. He was known for his sharp analysis and his commitment to social justice. He continued to contribute to the public discourse on race and politics until his death in 2010.
