Richard Marlow (MP)

Richard Marlow (MP) was a British Conservative Party politician. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Northampton North from 1979 until his death in 1998.

Marlow was known for his right-wing views, particularly his Euroscepticism and his strong stance on immigration. He was a vocal critic of the European Union and advocated for greater national sovereignty for the United Kingdom. He was a member of the Bruges Group, a Eurosceptic think tank.

During his parliamentary career, Marlow served on various select committees, including the Home Affairs Committee and the Transport Committee. He was a prominent figure in debates on issues such as immigration, crime, and European integration.

Marlow died suddenly in 1998 at the age of 58, while still serving as an MP. The subsequent by-election in Northampton North was won by Tony Clarke of the Labour Party. His death triggered a significant shift in the political landscape of the constituency.
