Phil Ryan (entrepreneur)

Phil Ryan is an American entrepreneur best known for co-founding mattress company, Sleep Number (formerly Select Comfort), in 1987. He served as CEO of Sleep Number from 1987 to 2001, guiding the company through significant growth and establishing its national brand. Prior to Sleep Number, Ryan had experience in the waterbed industry. He is also credited with pioneering the concept of adjustable air chamber mattresses sold directly to consumers. After stepping down as CEO, Ryan remained on the Sleep Number board of directors until 2005. Since leaving Sleep Number, Ryan has been involved in various entrepreneurial ventures and philanthropic activities.
