Petronet LNG
Petronet LNG Limited (PLL) is an Indian oil and gas company involved in the import and regasification of liquefied natural gas (LNG). It was formed as a joint venture by four leading Indian public sector undertakings: Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).
PLL's primary business involves importing LNG, storing it, and then converting it back into natural gas through a process called regasification. This regasified natural gas is then supplied to various customers in India, including power plants, fertilizer plants, and other industries.
The company operates two LNG terminals in India:
-
Dahej LNG Terminal: Located in Gujarat, it is one of the largest LNG terminals in India.
-
Kochi LNG Terminal: Located in Kerala.
Petronet LNG plays a crucial role in meeting India's growing energy demand, particularly for natural gas. The company contributes to the country's energy security by diversifying its energy sources and reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels. PLL also explores opportunities for expansion and diversification into related areas within the LNG value chain.
