Pengkalan Chepa (federal constituency)

Pengkalan Chepa is a federal constituency in Kelantan, Malaysia, that has been represented in the Dewan Rakyat (the lower house of the Parliament of Malaysia) since 1974.

The constituency was created in 1974 when it was known as Kelantan Hilir. It was renamed Pengkalan Chepa in 1986.

The constituency is defined by the Election Commission of Malaysia as containing the areas surrounding the town of Pengkalan Chepa, located near Kota Bharu. It traditionally includes a mix of urban and rural voters.

Pengkalan Chepa is known as a stronghold for the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS). It is consistently represented by PAS members of parliament. The demographic is primarily Malay-Muslim, reflecting the larger population distribution of Kelantan.

Elections are held every five years (or earlier if Parliament is dissolved) under the first-past-the-post system. The member of parliament elected represents the constituency in the Dewan Rakyat. The seat is currently held by a member of PAS.
