Paul Draper (musician)
Paul Draper (born 26 September 1969) is an English musician, best known as the frontman, guitarist, and principal songwriter of the alternative rock band Mansun.
Draper formed Mansun in Chester, England, in 1995. The band released four studio albums: Attack of the Grey Lantern (1997), Six (1998), Little Kix (2000), and Kleptomania (2004). Mansun achieved significant critical and commercial success, particularly with Attack of the Grey Lantern and Six, known for their eclectic and experimental sound. The band split in 2003 during the recording of Kleptomania, which was subsequently released posthumously.
Following Mansun's dissolution, Draper largely withdrew from the public eye for several years, focusing on production and songwriting work for other artists, including Skin and The Joy Formidable. He also battled personal issues during this period.
Draper returned to releasing his own music in 2016 with the EP One, followed by the EP Two in 2017. His debut solo album, Spooky Action, was released in 2017 and received positive reviews. A second solo album, Cult Leader Tactics, was released in 2022, further solidifying his reputation as a distinctive and innovative songwriter.
Throughout his career, Draper has been recognized for his complex and literate lyrics, his distinctive vocal style, and his innovative approach to songwriting and production. He continues to tour and record, maintaining a dedicated fanbase.
